Get ready Atlantic City, the Tower of Power will be playing here on 11/19/2011 Harrah's. Their tour takes off in New York. Shortly thereafter they will head for Japan where they will play several concerts in Osaka and Tokyo. Their tour will end in Las Vegas, Nevada after their October 3 concert at the Southpoint Casino.
Tower of Power has been performing for more than 40 years. The soul and funk band first started in Oakland, CA. The group, influenced by soul artist James Brown, contracted with legendary concert promoter Bill Graham in the early '70's. Their first album, 'East Bay Grease' was released shortly after signing. A few years later the group moved to Warner Brothers Records. One of the songs on their album was entitled, 'You're Still a Young Man.' It peaked at #29 on the Billboard 100. In the following years they released more albums along with more hits. The band has built a solid support group throughout the United States as well as other parts of the world.
